-Wine Pours of Note-
Cantele Primitivo Salente 2006 - Puglia, Italy
Negroamaro grapes are use in the south of Italy largely for blending and providing structure. While traditionally a rustic, earthy grape this Cantele provides a brighter old world experience. Light plum and spice bring levity to the mouth feel and an engaging drinkability to the glass.
Gaia Estate’s Notios Nemea Agiorgitiko 2008 - Peloponnese, Greece
Made from 100% Agiorgitiko. This is a dry red wine that is never oaked, allowing the uncommon varietal’s characteristics to shine through. It is a deep ruby, with notes of butter, caramel and gooseberry and a round body with delicate tannins. This would be an excellent wine to have with pasta, lighter chicken dishes, and even burgers.
Bodegas La Cana Albarino 2008 - Rias Baixas, Spain
The 2008 La Cana Albarino is the first release of the collaboration between the Gil family of Jumilla and importer Jorge Ordonez. Their intention was to make a more austere style of Albarino. Light gold-colored; it reveals an attractive perfume of pear, lemon-lime, and pineapple. Vibrant on the palate with excellent natural acidity, this racy Albarino will drink well for another three years. It is an excellent value.
